Waterton Beach Zoom

As I mentioned yesterday, this is exactly the same picture as before, just cropped differently.  Most of the images I do end up being the about 300% of their normal size, just because it’s a 6MP camera, and then I’m cramming all that data down to 800×600 (max) pixels.  However, this crop is exactly 100%.  It’s crazy to see how much detail there really is, especially since I was probably half a mile away (at least).  I’m really amazed at the detail of the rocks in the water.

Oh, and don’t the people and trees look fake?  It’s amazing what a macro type blur can do to your perception.

Waterton Beach

Another picture from Canada.  I’m definitely not putting these up in any sort of order.  It’s more how they strike me as being processed.

Anyways, this is another technique that I’m trying.  I think tomorrow’s picture (which is the same thing, only cropped differently, shows it off better.

Many Glacier Night

This one is a little darker than my normal shots, but what can I say, I really like it. I actually took it without a tripod too. I just sat the camera on the balcony of the hotel room and held down the button.

The trip was good, by the way. I took just under 1000 pictures while I was there. Thanks to Joel for letting me borrow his two 2GB compact flash cards. I know I need to buy a few more, but I’ve had other things to purchase (mainly furniture and stuff for this trip).

I’m hoping to be somewhat decent about updating this site, especially with all the images I can pull from now. I know that I’m going to be busy with a lot of other things though: catching up for the last week I was out (ugh, as much as I love taking vacations, there are definite downsides), job seeking, along with the normal stuff. There’s also a few new things I want to look into doing to the images, especially surrounding skies. It’s going to be hard, since all these images don’t have a flat horizon, but it would add so much to them. Oh yeah, I’d like to actually categorize all my images at some point too. I’ve got about 3000 that are sitting in the “untagged” folder. Lovely.

Also, all the images that I took will be uploaded into the events and places section of my site.  That way people can browse through all of them before I actually post them all done up on the site.  I had to break them up, since Lightroom doesn’t seem to like making sites with more than 500 images.  Lame.

I wonder how this would’ve looked with the polarizer instead.  I may have to walk back over and see.  I also want to actually get inside the church, since I just walked by when they had the doors open.  It looks like it could be a good HDR opportunity.

Urban Playground

Somewhere on Armitage.  That looks like a nice backyard to play in, no?

I wasn’t really happy with the first crop of the Bluebells on Monday.  So, I decided to give it another shot.  I think I like this one a lot more, as it shows a lot more detail of the actual flower, than just the mass of them.

Bluebells

I know I haven’t posted in a week, but I have a good excuse!  I’ve been crazy busy, trying to get everything moved and worked out, plus work has been difficult.  I’m actually going to start travelling a lot more soon more than likely, so I’ve had to work on rolling off what I’m currently doing.  Oh, and I may go to Manila for ~6 months.  Yes, that Manilla.  I’m still trying to work out the details and try and make that happen as it’s not a for sure deal yet.

Ok, back to picture related.  These next few images were taken quite a few weeks ago, as I haven’t had time or desire to go take any pictures.  This is actually the boulevard of Michigan Ave in the South Loop.

Harbor Anchors

I told you there was another one of these coming.  Well here you go!  I just love the contrasting colors: the blues and greens against the rust red.  Oh, and I’m still sick.  Bleh.

Harbor

This is a very similar picture as another one I have put up.  These are really once a season type of pictures because these anchors get put into the harbor in the background.  Thankfully I took quite a few, so, don’t you worry, there will be another color one coming up in the next few days.

Ice Cold

This is looking out over the harbor at Navy Pier.  It was taken a few weekends ago when there was still ice.  I have some images from last weekend that I’ll put soon, which should show a little bit of difference.
