A nice profile of my Mom taken over the holidays.  Look at how her nose curls up!

This picture wasn’t actually taken by me, but by my Dad quite awhile ago.  That’s why there’s no EXIF data listed below.  It was one of the pictures that my Dad had found of him for a memorial DVD.

It needed a little cleaning up, but this was actually one of them that didn’t need that much.  After going through some of those images, it made me thankful for using a digital camera, especially with color.  Just the different types of film and the color casts are enough to give me a headache.  The ability to change things “mid roll” with the digital camera does make things nice.  However, I still may go down that track, just to see.  I figure it’d be worth it.

I can’t believe I ever made the huge mistake of letting you go.

This is actually an older picture from this summer at Michael and Jessica’s Wedding.  It’s one of those images that I couldn’t get the processing right on at the time.  I still don’t know if it’s “right”, but I really like the picture, so I wanted to get it up.  And what better way to start the New Year?

New features on the site include a new random entry link up in the top right corner.  It’s currently taking the place of the “buy” link because, well, nobody wants to buy any of these.  Also, the navigation off the front page actually goes to the image names instead of P1, P2, etc.  That page navigation always bothered me, and I’m glad I finally took care of it.

Happy New Year!

Xmas Pic 2006 2

Merry Christmas everyone!

This was the more Christmas-y picture.  Definitely just as fun though.  Again, I wish I could post a flip-book type of image because some of the earlier shots (Dad!) are hilarious.

Xmas Pic 2006 1

Unlike most years, we actually had two pictures that we just had to send people this year.  Well, actually, I don’t send any, it’s just my parents.  Maybe next year, I’ll incorporate something into the site that pulls a special message depending on the URL I send you.  Maybe.

Anyways, I really wish I had scaffolding or something to get up higher on because we actually have another car that isn’t listed.  I also wish I could post a short little movie of everyone getting prepared for this picture.  It’s always fun to take a few pictures before everyone is set.

This was the last photo shoot for the Lighting and Portrait class I took.  Overall, I was impressed with the class.  This was the best image of the thirty or so I had to take (both composition, lighting, and subject’s expression).  The only thing I’m not really a fan of is the light spilling over his shoulder on the left side.  Oh well, things I’ll remember for next time.

Waiting

I purposely posted this image on a Friday, because I want it to have a three day exposure.  This image was taken near the bus station on Harrison St.  I was actually on the other side of the street when I saw him sitting alone on the other side of the street.  When I first saw him, he was talking on his phone.  However, I then approached and asked if I could take his picture.  I’m not really good at taking pictures of strangers on the street, and when I do take portraits, I like them to be as candid as possible.  Well, he starts to put away his phone, and I ask him to just be normal about it and pretend I’m not there.

Out of the four or so that I took, I think this one captures what I wanted.  The down side was that I didn’t actually check the images before I gave him my business card and walked off.  Because I was playing with the camera a few shots before I met him, I forgot that I had left it on the manual setting.  This is why the image is so blown out.  At first I was disappointed and almost turned around.  However it grew on me very quickly, and it seemed to actually capture more of what I had seen originally than I had thought.  I hope you guys enjoy it too.  I would definitely recommend the light CSS setting for this one.

Brides Maids

This was from back at Michael and Jessica’s wedding.  I’m trying to go through a lot of my older pictures and make them more “aaron spruit (.com)” worthy and this was one that I always liked.  However, there were a few things about it that simply bothered me.  Through what I’ve learned the past 6 months, I think I was able to adjust it more to my liking.

Unfortunately, the title of this post isn’t entirely correct.  The lady in the foreground was actually one of the Maids of Honor.  Hopefully I’ll be able to master portrait photography a little bit more after completing the class I’m currently in.
