Xmas Lights

Nice red Christmas Lights intertwined in a tree outside of the Fulton Lounge.

Yesterday’s, today’s, and tomorrow’s images have all been processed using BW Workflow Pro plug in from Fred Miranda.  I was so impressed with Velvia Vision and how it helped me to get the results I wanted so much easier, that I had to try the black and white counter part.  Needless to say I’m thoroughly impressed.  I do however wish, that each section of his plug in would create a new layer as opposed to just creating one.  That way it would be a lot easier to tweak individual components a lot easier.  However, I suppose I can make do with what’s available.

New Toy

And the aaron spruit (.com) countdown to Christmas has started (ish).  From today on, each of the images posted should have something to do with this winter holiday.  As of the posting of this entry, I still have one more person to shop for.  However, she’s definitely the most difficult one on my list so finding just the right thing takes awhile (plus there’s a birthday thrown in there too).  For most people, today’s probably doesn’t seem very Christmasy, but I know for my Dad it is.

This is the shot of his new toy, a Saturn Sky Redline parked in the garage.  I still can’t believe that he bought it.  It’s the first toy that I’ve ever seen him buy himself, and he definitely deserves it.  Plus, it’s a heck of a lot of fun to drive.

Dangerous Ice

Taken over Thanksgiving up at my parents place.  Can you see all that ice?  Oh wait, there is none, but regardless, it’s very dangerous.  Actually, there’s a damn not more than 150 feet from where I took this picture, so even when there is ice, it’s not a good idea to go out on it.  However, I still find it funny.

Paint Splatter

Took this one a weekend ago or so when it was cooler out. You can’t really tell, but the lighting for this one was atrocious. I actually took this one under a bridge on Ogden, where the Metra goes over. It’s amazing what a little post processing will do.

On another note, does anyone else hate the new DLP commercials? You know, the ones with the girl in the pink dress and the elephant? The bother me to no end because of the colors. The pink dress is way too saturated, and her skin tones are not right at all. They look very dull and dark, which is completely wrong for the processing they’ve done with the dress. It looks as if they’ve used a yellowish colored soft box on both the girl and the elephant too, but not any of the other actors if there are any in the commercial. Nor is the background lighting at all the same. It’s just very annoying I guess.

Bridge

This is yet another image from St Petersburg.  This bridge leads to a park and many marinas.  Obviously the tide was low while I was photographying.  With this cold weather, it sure would be nice to be back there.

Christmas Cactus

Ah the Christmas Cactus.  However, this one was blooming at Thanksgiving.  I guess that’s close enough right?  Oh, and it also blooms at Easter sometimes, etc.  I’m guessing it likes where it’s at and that it’s well cared for (read: not mine).

Yoga

Yet another orange and blue sign.  I’m sensing a theme around these parts.

Bittersweet

Here’s something to help bring us closer to Christmas, a little bittersweet and hints of pine.  Only 11 more days!  This is actually at my parents place while I was there over Turkey Day.  As you can sort of see, my Mom has intertwined it around a stand.

Clamp Sign 2

Like I said, part two of the Jorgensen Clamp sign.

Clamp Sign 1

The nice thing about living in the city is that there are so many different buildings, companies, and company signs.  Today’s and tomorrow’s images is a great example.  The signs have to have a certain contrast about them, otherwise they wouldn’t stand out.
